Josh Tongue takes two wickets in two balls but misses hat-trick

Josh Tongue dismissed Salman Ali Agha and Ali Usman with consecutive deliveries on the opening day of the first Test at Headingley. Khurram Shahzad hit the next ball for four and denied Tongue a hat-trick. England finished the day in control after taking regular wickets.

Tongue finished with five wickets for the innings. Ollie Robinson also claimed five wickets as Pakistan were bowled out for 232. England reached 58 for one by stumps.

The match is the first of a three-Test series. England lead the current cycle of the World Test Championship and need points from the home summer.
