Kagiso Rabada closing in on return for second Test against Australia
Rabada nears fitness return while Green remains doubtful for Gqeberha Test.
South Africa captain Temba Bavuma said Kagiso Rabada is making good progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury and could feature in the second Test at Gqeberha. Rabada hasn't played competitive cricket since the IPL final in May and missed the Durban Test as a precaution. He's been bowling with increasing intensity in the nets.
Bavuma noted Rabada's non-selection was precautionary to give him extra recovery time. Anrich Nortje bowled 40 overs across both innings in Durban, and workload considerations may influence selection. South Africa will name an updated squad on Thursday.
Australia assistant coach Matthew Wade said Cameron Green remains unlikely for the second Test after an abdominal injury but Josh Inglis could push for a debut if his broken finger holds up.
