Khawaja names five Sheffield Shield players to replace Labuschagne
Khawaja says five domestic performers match Labuschagne's Shield average and deserve Test consideration.
Former Australia opener Usman Khawaja has identified five Sheffield Shield performers who could challenge Marnus Labuschagne for a Test spot. Labuschagne has gone 47 innings without a Test century and recorded scores of 37, 37, 14 and 39 during the ongoing tour of South Africa.
Khawaja told Fox Cricket that Kurtis Patterson, Peter Handscomb, Cameron Bancroft, Marcus Harris and Jack Clayton all have domestic records comparable to Labuschagne's. Patterson currently averages around 39 in the Shield and began the season with a century and a fifty.
Handscomb has played 20 Tests with both his centuries coming at number five, while the uncapped Clayton has scored six Shield centuries and averages 38 across 42 matches.
