Leicestershire hit with 27-point penalty for poor pitch
Leicestershire have 10 days to appeal the verdict that leaves them on the brink of relegation from Division One.
Leicestershire were deducted 27 points and fined £5,000 after the Cricket Discipline Panel ruled they prepared a poor pitch for their County Championship match against Glamorgan. The panel rejected the club’s claim that an unscheduled Bollywood film shoot four days before the game prevented proper preparation. Head groundsman Callum Lewin said the shoot lasted one day and left the surface uncovered in 35-degree heat.
