Sandeep Lamichhane named Nepal's new ODI captain
Lamichhane takes over from Paudel with Nepal preparing for the ACC Men's Premier Cup.
Leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has been named Nepal's new ODI captain by the Cricket Association of Nepal. The 26-year-old replaces Rohit Paudel ahead of the ACC Men's Premier Cup scheduled from August 30 to September 12 in Malaysia.
Lamichhane returns to the leadership role after previously captaining Nepal in 14 ODIs. He has taken 154 wickets in 77 ODIs and holds the record as the fastest Nepalese bowler to reach 150 ODI wickets.
Under Paudel's captaincy, Nepal won 11 of their final 12 matches in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 to secure a berth in the ODI World Cup Qualifier. The new captain will lead a squad that excludes Kushal Bhurtel, Bhim Sharki, Nandan Yadav and Binod Bhandari.
