Marcus Trescothick open to Jacob Bethell opening in Tests for England

England assistant coach Marcus Trescothick said age should not prevent Jacob Bethell from opening the batting in Test cricket. England's opening problems have persisted across recent series.

Bethell's return creates a logjam in the top order ahead of the tour to face the world Test champions in December. Trescothick indicated traditional thinking on opener profiles may need revision.

England have yet to finalise their batting order for the series.
