Samson Carries CSK Alone to First Road Win

Samson blasts 101* off 54 as lone warrior. Hosein's 4/17 buries MI for 104.

Sanju Samson smashed an unbeaten 101 off 54 balls to propel Chennai Super Kings to 207 for 6 at Wankhede Stadium. Mumbai Indians suffered a dramatic collapse to 104 all out in reply. The result marked CSK's first away win this IPL and MI's worst T20 defeat by 103 runs.

Samson bludgeoned 10 fours and 6 sixes during his knock, while no other CSK batter could pass 22. Akeal Hosein wrecked MI early with stunning figures of 4 for 17, as Jasprit Bumrah managed only 1 for 31 and Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar claimed 2 for 25. Suryakumar Yadav made 36 and Tilak Varma scored 37, but the rest folded quickly.

CSK finally broke their road duck with this victory, leaning heavily on Samson who was traded from RR and has become their backbone. MI coach Mahela Jayawardene pointed to powerplay leaks and big overs that hurt, while injuries bit them hard. Two wins in seven leaves them eighth, as Samson delivered to claps from the Wankhede crowd and even MI players.
