Mitchell Starc unsure of IPL 2027 participation
Starc says IPL 2027 availability uncertain; McDonald stresses workload management for fast bowlers.
Mitchell Starc said his availability for the IPL 2027 season remains uncertain. The fast bowler confirmed ongoing discussions but added that nothing is concrete yet. Australia's packed Test calendar includes the 150th Anniversary Test against England in March 2027 and the Ashes series.
Australia coach Andrew McDonald said the IPL forms part of the team's management plan for players. He stressed that physical management of fast bowlers remains the priority. McDonald said rest periods are essential for pacers to maintain fitness over long campaigns.
Starc was signed by Delhi Capitals for 11.75 crore but played only six matches in the 2026 season because of injury. The coaching staff is evaluating workloads ahead of a potential World Test Championship final, an away Ashes series and a World Cup.
