Mohammad Kaif says Virat Kohli's presence could have changed Colombo result

Former India batter Mohammad Kaif said Virat Kohli's presence could have altered the outcome of the drawn second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

Kaif argued that Kohli would have maintained the team's intensity and energy on the final day when Sri Lanka's tailenders resisted India's push for victory. He suggested the lack of fire allowed Sri Lanka to escape with a draw.

The result has left India fifth in the World Test Championship standings with seven Tests remaining to secure qualification for the 2027 final.
