Mohammed Saifuddin ruled out of Asian Games with hamstring injury
Bangladesh all-rounder Mohammed Saifuddin has been ruled out of the Asian Games 2026 after sustaining a right hamstring injury during a practice session on September 19. A physical examination and MRI confirmed the injury, and team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan assessed that Saifuddin requires approximately three weeks of rehabilitation.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board informed the Bangladesh Olympic Association of his unavailability for the tournament, which runs from September 24 to October 3. Saifuddin last represented Bangladesh in July 2026 during their tour to Zimbabwe and had featured in an A series against South Africa before the injury.
The BCB has indicated it will name a replacement from the preliminary squad, subject to approval from the Games authority. No replacement has been announced as of September 22.
