BCCI names Test squad for New Zealand without Mohammed Shami

Akash Deep earns a recall while Mohammed Shami remains outside the Test squad for the New Zealand tour.

The BCCI announced India's 16-member squad for the two-Test series in New Zealand starting 19 November. Akash Deep returns after more than a year out with a stress fracture.

Mohammed Shami was overlooked despite taking five wickets in Bengal's Ranji Trophy opener. The selectors retained Jasprit Bumrah and added Anshul Kamboj while resting Gurnoor Brar.

Rishabh Pant was included subject to fitness after a side strain. The series forms part of India's push for a 2027 World Test Championship final berth.
