Mohammed Siraj featured in only four ODIs this year despite Bumrah absence
Mohammed Siraj has played only four ODIs in 2026 despite Jasprit Bumrah’s limited availability, prompting questions about India’s World Cup planning.
Mohammed Siraj has featured in just four ODIs this year, raising questions over India’s planning ahead of the 2027 World Cup. After the IPL 2026 campaign with Gujarat Titans, Siraj played one Test against Afghanistan and was then rested for the ODIs against Afghanistan and England, the England T20Is and the Zimbabwe T20Is.
Siraj was brought back for the West Indies series but was rested in the first two matches before playing the dead rubber in New Chandigarh, where he bowled eight overs for 52 runs and one wicket. Captain Shubman Gill gave him limited opportunities in the death overs during the chase.
India tried out Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Prince Yadav, Harshit Rana, Auqib Nabi and Anshul Kamboj during Siraj’s absence. The pacer has taken 35 wickets in the last two IPL seasons and remains one of India’s most improved white-ball bowlers.
