Kamran Akmal criticises Saim Ayub over Sooryavanshi send-off
Kamran Akmal says Saim Ayub's send-off to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was a social media stunt; Sooryavanshi's T20I selection remains uncertain.
Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal criticised Saim Ayub for giving Vaibhav Sooryavanshi a send-off during the Asian Games final. Akmal said Ayub's 'baby-cradle' gesture was an attempt to gain social media attention.
India defeated Pakistan by 19 runs to win gold, with Sooryavanshi scoring 15 off nine balls before his dismissal. The 15-year-old opened in both the semi-final and final but has not featured in India's recent bilateral T20I series.
India bowling coach Morne Morkel declined to confirm whether Sooryavanshi will play in Tuesday's first T20I against West Indies. Morkel said selection would depend on how players recover from jet lag after the Asian Games campaign.
