Mumbai Indians appoint Kieron Pollard as head coach for IPL 2027

Mumbai Indians named Kieron Pollard head coach for IPL 2027 on Saturday. The five-time champions had just finished ninth and missed the playoffs for the second time in three seasons, so they let Mahela Jayawardene go.

Pollard played 189 matches for MI between 2010 and 2022 and still sits third on the franchise's all-time run-scoring list with 3,412 runs. After hanging up his boots, he stayed on as batting coach.

Nita Ambani called him an integral part of the MI family for sixteen years. Pollard said he knows what the franchise stands for and what the job demands.
