Nathan McSweeney studied Kohli, Smith videos to counter India A spinners

Nathan McSweeney credited videos of Virat Kohli and Steve Smith for helping him dominate India A spinners during Australia A's series win.

Nathan McSweeney said watching YouTube videos of Virat Kohli and Steve Smith helped him counter spin during Australia A's 2-1 ODI series win over India A. The 27-year-old scored 194 runs across three innings at an average of 64.66 and was named player of the series. McSweeney scored 123 in the first match after Australia slipped to 104 for five.

He charged down the track against spinners Anukul Roy, Vipraj Nigam and Nishant Sindhu, falling to spin only once on the tour. McSweeney said analysts provided data but studying how Kohli and Smith played spin on subcontinental pitches proved valuable. He fell to spin just once across the white-ball series.

Australia A won the first two matches by 125 and 69 runs before India A won the third by 49 runs. McSweeney said series wins in India remain difficult for visiting sides.
