India win series 1-0 as Sri Lanka hold on for draw in Colombo
India won the two-Test series against Sri Lanka 1-0 after the second Test in Colombo ended in a draw. Sonal Dinusha's unbeaten 133 helped Sri Lanka hold on while Shubman Gill's India remained fifth in the World Test Championship rankings after the drawn Test.
India had taken a 213-run first-innings lead and enforced the follow-on. Sri Lanka produced a remarkable fightback on the final day to force a draw and deny the visitors a series clean sweep. Sonal Dinusha remained unbeaten on 133 as Sri Lanka reached 429 for nine after being asked to follow on.
India won the first Test in Galle by 165 runs. Shubman Gill said the draw did not hurt like a defeat and expressed continued hope about India's chances of reaching the WTC final.
