New Zealand Cricket ends franchise partnership with True North Sports Ventures
New Zealand Cricket has stepped away from its MLC franchise partnership to focus on domestic priorities.
New Zealand Cricket has withdrawn from its planned Major League Cricket franchise partnership with True North Sports Ventures. The two parties agreed to part ways on 21 October.
NZC chief executive Geoff Allott said the board decided the timing was not right after further evaluation. He added that the organisation's priority remains strengthening cricket and high-performance structures within New Zealand.
True North Sports Ventures retains full control of the franchise project and continues work toward a 2027 launch. Potential host cities included Toronto, Atlanta and Las Vegas.
