New Zealand names 16-member squad for five-match T20I series against India

New Zealand Cricket named a 16-member squad on Wednesday for the five-match T20I series against India. Mitchell Santner will captain the side, and the series opens on 22 October at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

Seven fast bowlers made the cut: Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Jacob Duffy, Adam Milne, Zak Foulkes and Nathan Smith. Milne is back after missing the 2026 T20 World Cup with injury, and Michael Bracewell, also unavailable for that tournament, returns as well.

Thirteen players from the New Zealand side that reached the T20 World Cup final against India are in the group. Rachin Ravindra is the standout omission after dislocating his right shoulder in a promotional shoot on 16 September. Head coach Rob Walter said Ravindra won’t rush his recovery.
