Padikkal left with name tattooed on back after Sri Lanka fielding marathon
Devdutt Padikkal shows unusual after-effect of extended fielding during Sri Lanka Test series.
Devdutt Padikkal was left with a "tattoo" on his back showing his name and jersey number after fielding for over 240 overs during India's second Test against Sri Lanka. The unusual mark resulted from hours spent under testing weather conditions during the drawn Colombo Test.
Ajinkya Rahane praised Padikkal's back-to-back centuries in the series and assessed that the batter had done enough to temporarily secure his place at number three. Manav Suthar also impressed with his ability to remain effective regardless of conditions.
The series victory failed to mask concerns about India's thinning spin resources ahead of more challenging tours. Padikkal's assured batting at number three emerged as the biggest positive from the tour.
