Pakistan's mid-series seven-player purge signals deeper institutional crisis

Misbah's resignation follows PCB's controversial mid-series squad changes during England tour.

Misbah-ul-Haq offered his resignation from Pakistan's national selection committee after the PCB released seven players from the England tour following the 194-run defeat at Lord's. The former captain also stepped down as batting consultant at the National Cricket Academy.

The PCB has yet to accept Misbah's resignation. Reports indicate the board considered banning Imam-ul-Haq after a 2025 probe allegedly found he faked an injury, adding to the turmoil surrounding player management.

The seven-player overhaul came after Pakistan lost the first two Tests of the series. The changes affected both senior players and emerging talents without clear performance-based criteria.
