Tests and World Cup vs IPL 2027: Cummins signals priority shift

Pat Cummins hinted he could miss IPL 2027 to prioritise Tests and the World Cup while hoping to feature in Australia's record Test schedule.

Australia captain Pat Cummins indicated he may skip the 2027 IPL to focus on Test cricket and the ODI World Cup. He wants to play in all 21 Tests scheduled over the next 12 months but acknowledged that doing so without rest would be unusual.

Cummins returned to the Sunrisers Hyderabad captaincy after a fitness-related absence earlier in the IPL season. The schedule places heavy demands on Australia's leading players across formats.

The comments come as Australia prepares for an intense period of international cricket that includes the Test series and the World Cup cycle. For Cummins, international commitments take precedence when workload decisions come up.
