Rain ends day one of second Test with South Africa at 20 for 2

Rain brought an early end to the first day of the second Test between South Africa and Australia at St George's Park, Gqeberha, on October 18, 2026, with the hosts at 20 for 2 after only 12.2 overs. Scott Boland dismissed Aiden Markram and David Bedingham in consecutive deliveries to leave South Africa reeling before the weather closed in.

Australia dropped Nathan Lyon for the first time in 13 years to play an all-seam attack, handing Boland his first Test cap of the series. South Africa made three changes, including Test debutant Marques Ackerman at the top of the order and Ryan Rickelton taking over wicketkeeping duties.

Play was abandoned at 4:15pm local time. The match is part of a three-Test series with Australia leading 1-0 after winning the first Test in Durban by 214 runs.
