Reports: Rohit Sharma agreed to retire from ODIs despite anger at selectors' decision

Reports indicate that a selection committee member told Rohit Sharma in July that the panel had decided to move on from him, and he agreed to retire from ODIs despite his anger at the decision. The 39-year-old had expressed his desire to play at next year's ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

The futures of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja will come under discussion at the BCCI review meeting in Mumbai on Thursday as India begins planning for the 2027 tournament. Former South Africa cricketer Jonty Rhodes has backed Rohit as an asset at the World Cup due to his experience.

Aakash Chopra argued that Rohit Sharma's century at Lord's should end speculation about his international future, while Wasim Jaffer suggested the veterans are unlikely to continue beyond 2027.
