Rishabh Pant fails as Rest of India bowled out for 237 in Irani Cup

Rishabh Pant scored 10 as Rest of India were bowled out for 237 on the opening day of the Irani Cup against Jammu and Kashmir in Srinagar. Medium pacers Umar Nazir Mir, Sunil Kumar and Lone Nassir took three wickets each as the defending Ranji Trophy champions bowled out the visitors despite missing injured spearhead Auqib Nabi. J&K captain Paras Dogra won the toss and elected to bowl on a green pitch.

Shikhar Mohan scored 60 and Ravichandran Smaran made 68 for Rest of India, but both failed to convert their starts into centuries. Sarfaraz Khan was dismissed for 45 after a 76-run stand with Mohan. Pant was caught at short cover after being set on 10, attempting an inside-out drive.

Jammu and Kashmir reached 21 for two at stumps, with Akash Deep removing night-watchman Nazir for four. Mukesh Choudhary had earlier dismissed opener Shubham Pundir for one. J&K will resume on the second morning with nine wickets in hand.
