Rishabh Pant ruled out of fielding on day three with shoulder injury

Dhruv Jurel scored an unbeaten century in India's first innings during the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo. Jurel and Rishabh Pant added 112 runs for the seventh wicket before India declared at 503 for nine. Jurel dedicated the innings to his parents and his 'Jai Jawaan, Jai Kisaan' tattoo.

Rishabh Pant did not take the field on day three due to a shoulder injury sustained while batting. Jurel kept wicket in his place as Sri Lanka replied. India had earlier taken two wickets to leave Sri Lanka at eight for two.

Jurel had entered the series after eight innings without a fifty. His second Test hundred took his series tally to 173 runs at an average of 86.5. The declaration left Sri Lanka facing a large deficit on the rain-affected day.
