Rishabh Pant’s Day 4 participation hinges on shoulder recovery

India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj injured his rib-cage area while attempting to take a diving catch on day four of the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo. Siraj suffered the injury while trying to catch Pasindu Sooriyabandara, who had top-edged a delivery from Manav Suthar in the 11th over of Sri Lanka's second innings.

India reached 503 for nine in their first innings before Sri Lanka struggled in response. Siraj's injury adds to India's concerns after wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant sustained a bruised shoulder while batting on day two and did not take the field on day three.

Dhruv Jurel has taken the gloves in Pant's absence. India bowling coach Morne Morkel said Pant remains under assessment with a decision expected overnight.
