BCCI to discuss Ajit Agarkar's future after Sri Lanka Test series

BCCI office-bearers will meet chief selector Ajit Agarkar after the two-match Test series in Sri Lanka to discuss his contract extension. Agarkar has completed three years in the role and is eligible for a one-year extension. Reports suggest differences of opinion between selectors and the board regarding Rohit Sharma's future in the ODI team.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said no decision has been made about the former captain's ODI future. Rohit Sharma is set to continue in the ODI series against West Indies. The board meeting will clarify both Agarkar's position and the selection direction for the 50-over format.

Sharma remains under consideration for the ODI side despite questions over his commitment to the 2027 World Cup. The selector's contract decision will determine the continuity of India's selection panel ahead of the Champions Trophy cycle.
