Rohit Sharma row contributed to Ajit Agarkar's exit: Report
Reports indicate that a disagreement over Rohit Sharma's ODI future contributed to Ajit Agarkar's exit as chief selector.
A reported disagreement over Rohit Sharma's future in ODIs played a significant role in Ajit Agarkar's decision to step down as chairman of selectors, according to PTI. The selection committee had planned to move on from Sharma after the Lord's ODI against England, but the BCCI publicly backed the former captain, blindsiding Agarkar.
Agarkar also clashed with VVS Laxman over India A scheduling and the handling of injured players. Key India A matches overlapped with domestic tournaments, and an injury list of centrally contracted players was leaked to the media.
Agarkar did not attend a BCCI review meeting in Mumbai after India's series defeat to England. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said the meeting was called at short notice while Agarkar was away.
