Rohit Sharma's five wickets helped J&K dismiss Madhya Pradesh for 196 on day one of their Ranji Trophy match in Srinagar.

Rohit Sharma claimed five wickets for 36 runs as Jammu and Kashmir dismissed Madhya Pradesh for 196 on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy Group A match at the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar on Sunday. The 38-year-old pacer, returning to first-class cricket after two years, removed five of the last seven wickets as MP lost their final four for 34 runs.

Sunil Kumar supported with four wickets for 69, while captain Shubham Sharma top-scored with 79 for the visitors. MP's three debutants could not prevent the collapse after the captain added 65 with Chanchal Rathore and 51 with Aryan Pandey for the seventh wicket.

J&K ended the day at three for one after Avesh Khan trapped Shubham Khajuria leg before with the penultimate ball. Rohit, who shares his name with India's former captain, showed no rust in his second five-wicket haul in first-class cricket.
