Mumbai Indians plan to name Rohit Sharma as captain for the 2027 Indian Premier League season. The franchise is expected to trade or release Hardik Pandya before that campaign. Kieron Pollard has been appointed head coach, with Robin Uthappa and T Dilip named as batting and fielding coaches.
Mumbai Indians finished ninth last season and have reached the playoffs only once under Hardik Pandya's three-year leadership. Robin Uthappa previously played for the franchise. Tilak Varma is viewed inside the team as a possible long-term captain.
Hanuma Vihari said the franchise needs to rebuild its structure ahead of the next season.
