S Ramesh questions Prasidh Krishna's selection with fitness concerns

Sadagoppan Ramesh says selecting Prasidh Krishna subject to fitness clearance for ODIs and Tests creates confusion.

Former Indian opener Sadagoppan Ramesh has questioned the inclusion of Prasidh Krishna in the ODI and Test squads for the upcoming tour of New Zealand. The 30-year-old suffered a hamstring injury in the second ODI against West Indies last month.

Ramesh said if Krishna needs fitness clearance for a Test series that starts after a month, it is unclear how he will be ready for the first three ODIs that begin two weeks earlier. He added that selecting players subject to fitness clearance creates needless tension.

India will play five T20Is from October 22 to November 1, followed by five ODIs from November 4 to 15 and two Tests from November 19 to December 1. Rishabh Pant was also named in the Test squad pending fitness clearance.
