S Sharath praises Rohit Sharma's team-first leadership approach
S Sharath highlights Rohit Sharma's inclusive leadership style that prioritised team culture over individual treatment.
Former senior selector S Sharath has identified Rohit Sharma's treatment of every team member as the quality that defined his leadership. Sharath said Rohit ensured players not in the XI received equal care because opportunities could arise at any time. He credited this approach with creating the environment that produced winning teams.
Sharath's comments come after Rohit led India to the T20 World Cup title in 2024 and the Champions Trophy in 2025. Jasprit Bumrah previously cited Rohit's efforts to make youngsters comfortable during the 2024 home Test series against England. Kuldeep Yadav also highlighted how Rohit backed players during difficult periods.
Rohit took over from Virat Kohli in 2023 and guided India to the ODI World Cup final that year before winning the T20 World Cup after a 17-year gap.
