Scott Boland's stop-start Test career offers parallel for Kuldeep Yadav
Scott Boland and Kuldeep Yadav have identical Test caps but face different structural barriers to regular selection.
Scott Boland has played only 19 Tests despite taking 82 wickets at an average of 18.58 since his 2020-21 Ashes debut. The 37-year-old seamer's opportunities remain limited by Australia's depth in fast bowling, with Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc established ahead of him.
Kuldeep Yadav has also played 19 Tests since debuting in 2017, taking 80 wickets at an average of 23.36. Unlike Boland, whose selection depends on injury or conditions, Kuldeep has been overlooked even on spin-friendly pitches in favour of maintaining a longer batting line-up.
Both bowlers face irregular selection despite strong career numbers, though the structural reasons differ between the two teams.
