Shafali Verma scored 55 off 25 balls as India beat Zimbabwe by nine wickets

Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana powered India to a nine-wicket win that sealed the T20I series against Zimbabwe.

Shafali Verma scored 55 off 25 balls with six fours and four sixes to help India chase down 103 in 8.5 overs against Zimbabwe at Raipur on Sunday. Her innings included reaching fifty in 24 balls and formed part of a 96-run opening stand with Smriti Mandhana, who remained unbeaten on 47 off 25 balls. The partnership marked the first time an opening pair has added 1,000 runs together in women's T20Is in a calendar year.

Niki Prasad took 2/7 in two overs to help restrict Zimbabwe to 102/8 after they chose to bat first. Kranti Gaud conceded only 15 runs in her four overs while Nandani Sharma, Deepti Sharma and Shree Charani each took a wicket. Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano top-scored for Zimbabwe with 34 off 32 balls.

The win gave India an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Shafali's half-century was her ninth fifty-plus score in women's T20Is in 2026, moving her ahead of Smriti Mandhana's eight in 2024. The third T20I is scheduled next.
