Shaheen Shah Afridi reaches 150 ODI wickets in 80th match

Shaheen Shah Afridi became the joint second-fastest pacer to reach 150 ODI wickets during Pakistan's match against England at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Sunday. The left-arm pacer claimed the milestone when he dismissed Tom Banton in the first over of the match.

Afridi needed one wicket to equal Mohammed Shami's record and achieved the feat in his 80th ODI. Mitchell Starc holds the record for the fastest pacer to 150 ODI wickets, reaching the landmark in 77 matches. Afridi is now the second-fastest Pakistani to the mark after Saqlain Mushtaq, who took 78 matches.

After dismissing Banton, Afridi also removed Joe Root in his second over. The wickets took his tally to 47 ODI dismissals in 28 matches on home soil, surpassing Shoaib Akhtar's record of 46 wickets in 32 matches in Pakistan.
