Shikhar Mohan scores 85 on Duleep Trophy debut for East Zone

Twenty-one-year-old Jharkhand batter Shikhar Mohan scored 85 off 120 balls on his Duleep Trophy debut for East Zone against South Zone in the final at Chennai. Batting at number three, he added a 94-run partnership with Ishan Kishan before his dismissal late on day one.

East Zone finished at 385 for four, with Ishan Kishan unbeaten on 111 and Kumar Kushagra not out on 63. Abhimanyu Easwaran made 72 and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 44.

Kishan said the team opted to bat first because the surface looked like a decent wicket with some moisture. He praised Mohammed Shami's intensity and said the veteran seamer asked for extra overs.
