Shreyas Iyer reaches career-high fourth in ICC T20I rankings

Shreyas Iyer climbed to a career-best fourth in the ICC T20I rankings as India maintained three players inside the top four.

India captain Shreyas Iyer moved to a career-high fourth place in the latest ICC T20I batting rankings after scoring a century in the first match against West Indies. Iyer jumped three spots following his hundred in Lucknow. India now occupy three of the top four positions, with Ishan Kishan at number one and Abhishek Sharma at number two.

Iyer won the toss in Hyderabad on Wednesday and elected to bowl first on a relaid surface. He said the team wanted to assess how the pitch would play in the first innings before deciding to chase. West Indies made two changes, bringing in Jewel Andrew and the returning Romario Shepherd.

Pakistan's Sahibzada Farhan sits third in the rankings. Other players who moved up include Sri Lanka's Kusal Mendis, West Indies' Sherfane Rutherford and India's Sanju Samson. Roston Chase improved his standing among T20I bowlers and all-rounders.
