Shubman Gill wins record fifth ICC Player of the Month award

Shubman Gill won the ICC Player of the Month award for September, his fifth time claiming the honour. The Indian ODI captain finished ahead of Abhishek Sharma and Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza after scoring 110 and an unbeaten 223 against West Indies.

Gill surpassed Pakistan's Babar Azam, who previously held the record with three awards. He previously won in January and September 2023, and again in February and July 2025. The award considers performances across all formats.

India also swept the women's award as Shafali Verma claimed the honour for the second time after leading run-scoring performances in the Asian Games and Asia Cup.
