Shubman Gill wins record fifth ICC Player of the Month award for September

Gill's unbeaten 223 against West Indies secured his fifth ICC monthly award, equalling Hayley Matthews' record. Shafali Verma won the women's award.

Shubman Gill has picked up his fifth ICC Player of the Month award for September. He racked up 333 runs against West Indies, capped by an unbeaten 223 that stands as the fastest double century in ODI history. He finished ahead of Abhishek Sharma and Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza.

Gill had already won the award in January and September 2023, then again in February and July 2025. This series started with 110 off 108 in Thiruvananthapuram before the record chase. Abhishek Sharma hit 229 runs in three T20Is against Afghanistan, including a 30-ball century. Sikandar Raza made 183 ODI runs and 90 in T20Is against Australia.

Shafali Verma claimed the women's award for the second time after leading India to Asian Games and Asia Cup titles. Indian players have now swept both monthly awards on three occasions.
