Sooriyabandara replaces Chandimal as concussion substitute on day four

Chandimal was forced off the field with a shoulder injury earlier in the day, with Sri Lanka Cricket confirming he was taken to the hospital for scans.

Sooriyabandara came into the Sri Lanka side as a concussion substitute for Dinesh Chandimal on day four of the first Test against India in Galle. Chandimal had been forced off the field earlier with a shoulder injury.

Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed he was taken to hospital for scans after the fielding incident. The replacement was made under ICC concussion substitute protocols during Sri Lanka's second innings.

Chandimal batted at number three in the first innings, scoring four from 16 balls before falling to Manav Suthar. His absence leaves Sri Lanka with limited options in the middle order for the remainder of the match.
