Sophie Devine ruled out of the Hundred with calf injury

Sophie Devine will miss the rest of The Hundred after sustaining a calf injury, with Orla Prendergast joining as replacement and Georgia Wareham taking over as captain.

Welsh Fire captain Sophie Devine has been ruled out of the remainder of The Hundred season due to a calf injury. The all-rounder shared her disappointment on Instagram while pledging to serve as the team's hydration manager. Ireland's Orla Prendergast replaces Devine in the squad, and Georgia Wareham assumes the captaincy for the rest of the competition.

Welsh Fire secured a four-wicket win against Southern Brave in their first match without Devine, completing the victory on the final ball. Devine scored 130 runs across four innings at an average of 43.33 and strike rate of 164.55, with a highest score of 52. She also claimed three wickets in two bowling appearances this season.

The injury ends Devine's participation in the tournament and shifts leadership responsibilities to Wareham for Welsh Fire's remaining fixtures.
