Sophie Molineux joins UP Warriorz for Rs 1.1 crore

UP Warriorz paid Rs 1.1 crore for Sophie Molineux after a bidding war with RCB at the WPL mini-auction in Kochi.

UP Warriorz signed Australian all-rounder Sophie Molineux for Rs 1.1 crore at the WPL 2027 auction after a bidding battle with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The 27-year-old all-rounder was one of the most sought-after players at the mini-auction in Kochi on Wednesday. Delhi Capitals secured Kiran Navgire for Rs 75 lakh in an earlier bidding war.

Molineux has captained Australia and brings experience across all three formats. She will join a UP Warriorz side that has the largest remaining purse and the most slots to fill with eight vacancies including three overseas places. The franchise retained most of its core ahead of the fifth season scheduled from January 14 to February 7, 2027.

Twenty-seven slots remain across the five franchises. UP Warriorz now have seven overseas players on their roster after signing Molineux. Teams are limited to a maximum of six overseas players in each squad.
