Ganguly says it is too early to predict Shami's 2027 World Cup return
Sourav Ganguly declined to speculate on Mohammed Shami's chances of featuring in the 2027 ODI World Cup, saying selectors have not neglected the pacer.
Sourav Ganguly said it is too early to predict whether Mohammed Shami will feature in the 2027 ODI World Cup. The former India captain stated that selectors have not sidelined the pacer and made the comments when asked about Shami's international prospects after his Duleep Trophy performances.
Shami recently played his 100th first-class match and helped East Zone win the Duleep Trophy title. He has stressed the importance of self-motivation in domestic cricket and said hard work remains his foundation while nurturing younger players under tournament pressure.
Ganguly did not offer a timeline for any possible recall. Shami has not played an ODI since the 2023 World Cup and continues to compete in domestic competitions without any official indication of an international return.
