Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 97 off 29 balls as Rajasthan Royals posted 243 for 8 and defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 47 runs in the IPL Eliminator at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium. The teenager hit five fours and 12 sixes before falling three runs short of a century.
Dhruv Jurel contributed 50 off 21 balls while Eshan Malinga took 4 for 40. Rajasthan Royals had earlier defeated Mumbai Indians by 30 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in their previous fixture.
Sourav Ganguly stated that Sooryavanshi deserves an immediate India T20 call-up but must accumulate more first-class runs before any Test consideration. The 15-year-old later told broadcasters he remained composed under playoff pressure and identified the shot that prevented the fastest IPL hundred.
