Sri Lanka chase 430 to beat England by two wickets

Sri Lanka completed a two-wicket victory over England after chasing 430 in their tri-series match in Rawalpindi. The total is the second-highest successful run chase in ODI history. Harry Brook scored 202 from 116 balls, the fastest double-century in ODI cricket and the first by an Englishman, before England posted 429 for four.

Avishka Fernando and Pavan Rathnayake put on 166 for the third wicket before Rathnayake completed an 87-ball hundred. Dasun Shanaka scored 97 from 50 balls and Janith Liyanage added a 22-ball fifty to leave Sri Lanka needing eight runs from the final over.

Josh Tongue dismissed Dunith Wellalage and Eshan Malinga in successive deliveries but Liyanage struck a six from the penultimate ball to seal the win. Sri Lanka earned their first points of the tournament while England suffered their second consecutive defeat.
