India and West Indies fined for slow over-rates in third ODI
Both teams sanctioned after India fell four overs short and West Indies two overs behind the required rate.
India were fined 20 per cent of their match fee and West Indies 10 per cent after the third ODI at New Chandigarh on Saturday. Match referee Prakash Bhatt imposed the sanctions after both teams failed to maintain the required over-rate. India finished four overs behind and West Indies two overs short once time allowances were applied.
On-field umpires Jayaraman Madanagopal and Sam Nogajski, third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Virender Sharma reported the offences. Both captains pleaded guilty and accepted the proposed sanctions, so no formal hearings were required.
India won the three-match series 2-1. The first of five T20Is between the sides begins in Lucknow on Tuesday. West Indies have added Amir Jangoo to their squad as cover for injured wicketkeeper Jewel Andrew.
