Sri Lanka recall Dickwella for India Test after Nissanka and Kusal Mendis ruled out

Sri Lanka recalled Niroshan Dickwella after three years following injuries to Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka for the Galle Test.

Sri Lanka named a 16-member squad for the first Test against India in Galle on Saturday with Niroshan Dickwella recalled after three years. Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka were ruled out with injuries, prompting the return of the 33-year-old wicketkeeper who last played a Test against New Zealand in 2023. Dhananjaya de Silva will captain the side with Kamindu Mendis as deputy. Uncapped off-spinner Keshara Nuwantha earned his first call-up alongside left-arm pacers Vishwa Fernando and Dilshan Madushanka. India have also made changes after injuries ruled out Jasprit Bumrah, Sai Sudharsan, Nitish Reddy, Harshit Rana and Washington Sundar. Auqib Nabi and Sarfaraz Khan were added to the 15-member squad.
