Supreme Court questions BCCI exclusion from Sports Governance Act

Supreme Court questioned why BCCI and state associations should stay outside the National Sports Governance Act during ongoing hearings.

The Supreme Court asked why the Board of Control for Cricket in India and its state associations should remain outside the National Sports Governance Act, 2025. A Bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana raised the issue during hearings.

The BCCI has maintained its position as a private body since its formation. The court will continue examining applications filed by cricket bodies in the ongoing matter.

The intervention follows years of judicial scrutiny of cricket administration and reform efforts.
