Suryakumar Yadav says he takes blame for failing to crack ODI cricket

Suryakumar Yadav admitted he did not put in enough effort in ODIs and accepted losing the T20I captaincy to Shreyas Iyer.

Suryakumar Yadav said he takes full responsibility for not putting in the effort required to succeed in the 50-over format. He admitted feeling disappointed with himself and said he never adapted his game to the longer version despite his success in T20Is. The selectors told him it was time to move on after India won the T20 World Cup, a decision he did not question.

Yadav revealed he was in shock for the next month and a half and at one point wondered whether he should keep playing. His wife helped him return to the game during that period. He remains available for selection whenever the committee needs him.

He also spoke about the decision to hand the T20I captaincy to Shreyas Iyer, saying he had never anticipated losing the role but accepted the change.
