Yadav credits Samson's preparation mindset after being dropped and admits he lacked dedication in the 50-over format.
Suryakumar Yadav revealed that Sanju Samson prepared as if still part of the squad after being dropped before the T20 World Cup, giving the team confidence. Samson later earned Player of the Tournament recognition for his contributions in the knockout rounds. Yadav also admitted he did not put in enough effort to succeed in ODI cricket and takes responsibility for his limited success in the format. He scored 773 runs in 35 ODI innings at an average of 25.76. Being removed as T20 captain came as a shock after leading India to World Cup and Asia Cup titles. Yadav said he struggled with the complexities of ODI cricket compared to T20s and expressed regret over not mastering the art of innings construction.
